The Correct Position of Things

Welcome all! This is my first blog post here, and while I know blogging is passe, I also know that I love it.

Guess what!? I get to do what I love and not what I don’t. This is true for you as well! I don’t care what everyone else says about whether it will work or not. Their solution that works for them will not work for you if it isn’t your solution. More on that another time though.

Today I want to talk about a lost practice in our modern, Western, industrialized society: Ancestor veneration.

I’m not saying no one does it, but lots of people don’t. Christianity has pushed it, and other things out.

You know there used to be a cult called the cult of the Matronae? That’s the Mothers.

Or did you know about the Disir in Norse mythology? The Disir is the group of deified ancestresses. They can be referred to in the plural, or as a collective singular. The Dis is both the chief Goddess, and the name for all of the goddesses and ancestresses together as this is the magic of the feminine. To be one while also being “separate.” This is also a different conversation, but suffice to say that humanity has worshipped ancestors for a long time.

Recently I started to explore this practice as it relates to myself in my own ancestral tree, and one of the greatest revelations I had was that I had been living my life the way that society had programmed me to: I was taking responsibility for the challenges and problems of my ancestors and trying to heal them. Not for the manifestations of their issues in me, though I was working on that too, but the manifestations of their issues that they themselves held. As a child, I was raised to take responsibility for how I made my family members feel. If I was too much, my expressions of being were too intense for them (as a 5 year old child dealing with adult relatives), I was required to adjust my behavior and expressions. I was to take responsibility for their reactions to me.

I discovered that this was taking place in my relationship with the Divine as well. I was raised Christian and while I was taught that our god was all powerful, I was also taught that he needed me to do things for him. My service was needed and if I didn’t measure up there’d be hell to pay.

As I worked with my own recent, personal ancestors, this pattern became very apparent and very apparently incorrect.

Are the children to take care of the parents? Do we expect young ones to have the emotional maturity to deal with their big feelings in order to keep adults comfortable? In my family the answer was yes, but this is not the correct answer.

I have not parented another human, but I have parented animals. Many times. I also train animals using primarily positive reinforcement and communicative training methods. I have learned that when they have expressions of big emotions, it’s my responsibility to find out why and help them. They’re not trying to give me a hard time, they’re having a hard time.

The correct positions here are for the adult to be the caretaker, the supporter, the loving and forgiving parent, and for the child to explore and to learn. To be supported through things that they can’t support themselves through.

I knew this, but as I applied it to my own personal and immediate ancestors, I began to deeply see how this training had damaged my psyche, damaged my ability to accept support, and tainted my relationships with almost everyone, up to and including the Divine.

There are many deities, and many relationships that we can have with them, but at their core, the Divine energy is our ancestor. We are the physical children of her Divine presence.

We do not serve the Divine. We deeply honor the Divine as an ancestor and respect her by living the truth of who we are. Not by following some rules or doing some rituals we think will please the Divine because that’s what we were told, but by honoring and expressing that as inspired. We do not care for the Divine, the Divine cares for us.

This may sound disempowering, but I promise you that it’s exactly the opposite of that. How freeing to know that you don’t have to parent your parents! How amazing to know that you don’t have to do anything to be worthy of the blessings of your ancestors and the Divine. You are the fruition of their desires just by existing in exactly the way they manifested your, whether they think that’s ok in their current physical states or not, you are the manifestation of what they all wanted, and not so you have to overcome and improve yourself, but because they wanted you to be exactly as you are.

Yes, exactly.

Yes, with your darkness. Yes, with your neurodivergence. Yes, with the things that society says make you Other and Outcast.

How joyful! The Others and Outcasts are the best people. We are the mystics, the witches, the shamans, the wise women, the clever ones who live on the edges of society without quite fitting in. We are on the edge to be disconnected enough to still live in the Spirit World and connected enough to be here. To answer the call when people in the center of human life need help. And they all need help right now.

This exploration caused me to think about the correct places of things (and from an animistic view all “things” are people, so the correct places of people) in general. The correct place of humanity with the Earth. The correct place of the mystic in society. The correct place for myself and yourself.

Correct, again, not because you’ve mashed yourself into a mold of what is “correct,” but because you return to your true and full expression of Self exactly as feels best for you.

Awaken Mystics!

It’s time for us to return to our correct position. Mystics are necessary to teach humanity to listen to their “yes” and “no,” to find the deep truths and to know when the truths are spoken. Mystics are necessary to care for society as we approach the monumental shift and change that is coming.

There is a story about the Mayan Empire told by the modern day descendants of the ancient Mayans. They tell us of how when the empire was about to crumble, the shamans rose up and reminded the people of how they used to live correctly with Nature in the forests. The shamans invited those who would listen to leave the cities and return to right living in the forest.

Because they did so, and because enough people could hear their true “yes” and “no” to choose to follow, there is an unbroken spiritual and mythological lineage from the ancient Mayans through to their modern descendants. The same cannot be said for almost any other empire that’s existed on this planet. The same must be said about us if we are to move forward with grace on humanity’s path.

My correct position is a teacher of teachers. I’m the Mystic who initiates and awakens other mystics so they can help others to hear their true “yes” and “no” and hear the voice of our Mother calling them back to right living over the din of modern industrialized life.

Are you someone who is called to help human society return to its Correct Place in the order of things? Are you called to help awaken and initiate novices into spiritual paths?

I am your teacher. Finding me is the hard part, but if you’re reading this, you’ve clearly found me.

Let me help you find your Correct Place with your Divine support, with your spirit team. Let’s awaken and initiate your deep power without amputating any parts of it as society would like us to do. Let’s burn away that which does not serve to have the diamond of your mission emerge and shine so brilliantly you cannot be missed.

Yes, it’s vague. No, I can’t say more. That is the nature of the mystery I serve. If you are curious, if your Sacred Heart and precious Soul are calling you toward me, let’s chat. If you’ve already found me and feel the pull, then I know you’re already qualified to work with me.

Shoot me an email to discuss working together. Share with me what you’re currently facing in your life and we’ll discuss how I can help you.
